Editorial Policy

This page explains how Travelinium chooses, researches, writes, checks and updates its articles. Last reviewed on 29 October 2026.

What we publish

We publish practical travel guides that can be answered from public, checkable facts: seasons and weather, opening dates and road conditions, costs, transport, entry requirements and planning checklists. We do not publish hotel or restaurant reviews, rankings that would need first-hand testing, or personal travel stories we cannot verify. We also stay away from medical and legal advice, visa rules for specific nationalities and destinations under serious travel advisories.

How topics are chosen

Topics come from what travelers are looking for: Google search suggestions, the questions people ask in travel communities, what travel viewers are watching, and when interest in a destination rises during the year. We favor questions that will matter in the coming weeks, so a guide is ready before its season.

Sources

Facts are taken from primary sources wherever possible: the National Park Service and other park authorities, official tourism boards, airlines and transport operators, weather and climate agencies, and government travel advice such as the U.S. Department of State and the CDC. The sources an article relies on are linked in the article itself, so you can check them.

How articles are written

We use AI tools at several steps: to gather and summarize current information from public sources, to draft the article, and to edit it for accuracy and clarity. AI is a tool in this process, not a source: facts must come from the research and its sources. Before anything is published, every article passes a set of quality checks. It must:

  • answer the reader's question in a short summary at the top;
  • link to the sources behind its facts and to related Travelinium guides, with a set of frequently asked questions at the end;
  • contain only links that load: every link is opened before publishing and dead ones are removed;
  • contain no filler phrases, placeholders or invented first-hand experiences (we never write "when I visited" about a place we have not been).

A draft that fails a check is rewritten or dropped; it is never published as it is.

Photos

Article photos come from Wikimedia Commons, Pexels and Unsplash and are credited under each photo with its license. We do not use AI-generated images to show real places in articles.

Keeping articles up to date

Each article shows its publication date and, when it has been revised, the date of its last update. Seasonal guides are rewritten when the dates in them have passed, and other articles are reviewed for updates about every two months. Every week all article links are checked: a broken link is replaced with the source's current page or removed.

Corrections

If you find a mistake, write to [email protected] with the article and the error. We check it against the source, correct the article, and its update date changes.

Bylines

Articles are published under the names of Travelinium's topic desks: Elena Vance (solo and budget travel, travel traditions), Maya Brooks (family travel and beaches), Tomas Reyes (adventure and eco travel) and Claire Dubois (city guides and food). These are pen names; every desk follows this policy.

Advertising and independence

Travelinium is supported by advertising (Google AdSense). Ads are placed automatically and advertisers have no say in what we write. We do not accept payment for coverage, sponsored articles or links. If an article ever contains affiliate links, a notice at the top of the article says so and the links are marked as sponsored.
